Plans For Your Garden Fountain

By Mark Henderson

If you are planning on implementing a garden fountain in your garden, you will want to carefully plan your project before you begin.

When choosing your garden fountain the rules are rather simple. In terms of size you will want a fountain that fits in the space allotted, does not overpower your garden and does not disappear due to lack of size. In terms of style and color, go with what fits in with your garden, not just what looks good in a picture.

Once you have selected your specific fountain there are several things you will want to consider. There are many aspects that are specific to each job, but there are some key concepts you will want to keep in mind for every job.

First you will want to carefully measure the place you will put your outdoor fountains. Make sure your outdoor fountain fits in terms of length, width and height. This step could save you a lot of time and effort after you have your garden fountain.

Second there is no need to worry about a water source for the average home garden fountain. Most garden fountains reuse the same water through a pump system and are electrically powered. Therefore it is important to place an outdoor fountain near an electrical source or alternatively to plan on using an extension cord. If you are going the extension cord route, the cord can be buried in a one or two inch deep trench and covered.

If you are extremely limited on space, you can consider a wall fountain. A wall fountain can give the calming benefits of other types of fountains but hangs up against the wall, maximizing space.

If you would like to extend your fountain atmosphere inside, you can mount a wall fountain inside your home and accent it with a crystal chandelier.
